Good Morning everyone , today is Saturday June 12, 2021. The weather again today is predicted to be cloudy, I guess Mother Nature is feeling the affects of Covid and is not sure what to do with herself. Maybe she should get vaccinated if she is not and take off her mask and enjoy the outdoors a little, so we can also enjoy outside in the fresh air and clear our lungs.

Last night I flip flopped things and went out to dinner insread of tonight. Historically I did not like going out on Friday night because we had to open the store early on Saturday morning, but that was some many years ago and it has no bearing on today, but the way I am a real creature of habit these things take long to die. We had an enjoyable time,I ordered Dorado, a white fish I have always wanted to try but Marylou asked the waitress is it fileted and she said yes, she knows me best of all, many times I have been known to order foolishly. But it came and it looked like the whole fish head and all , now we looked at it and I said what am I going to do with this but then realized it was fileted and the head was decoration, it was very delicious. Once in little Italy when we were first married I tried to show off and ordered octopus, now I like octopus when it is grilled or made into a salad but it came to the table, the whole octopus sitting spread open on a bed of spaghetti covered in gravy, alright for some of you sauce, I took one look at it and my stomach started to move, now my father in law was there and I guess he saw my face and immediately called the waiter to remove it, that was the end of the meal and that restaurant, which by the way was quite famous and there 100 years, for me I never have gone back. See what I mean about ordering foolishly. I learned a lesson not to try and show off.

Months ago I think for Valentine’s Day I wrote about great love stories throuout history, and one of the couples I mentioned were The Lovings, what made their love story so everlasting was the fact that they were an inter racial couple married in 1958. We forget today that many states had laws against interracial marriage back then, which really is not that long ago. But the Lovings were married in Washington DC where the marriage was legal, when they returned to their home in Virginia it was not recognized because it was illegal in Virginia. In the middle of the night the sheriff came and arrested them out of their bed. What is it about the middle of the night that these animals get a charge out of persecuting people, like the Nazis always came in the middle of the night to arrest the Jewish citizens, Why, I guess in the light of day they didn’t want others to see the wrong they were doing. Their case finally went to the Supreme Court and all laws in every state against interracial marriages were found unconstitutional and dropped. Justice had prevailed Thank God. I brought this up today because June 12 is called The Loving Day. I’m certain that the Loving Case was the forerunner to end prejudices of all marriages. When two people are in love and want to spend their lives together is it really anyone’s business to prevent it. So I applaud the Supreme Court of 1967 and the justices for their wise decision.

Well I see a brightening at my window beckoning me to wrap it up for the day so I will but not before I remind you it is the weekend Saturday a day for fun, so enjoy it, remember the small things they make us just as happy a the large things. Talk Soon, Til Tomorrow !

Good Morning everyone today is Friday June 11, 2021. Another week is coming to a close. That means we will be able spend awhat looks like a beautiful weekend weathewize enjoying ourselves. I look forward to these summer weekends because I enjoy going to the pool and coming home to a barbecue. I find that to be very relaxful and laid back.

There is a calendar of National Holidays which someone sent me. Did you know ther is a day for almost anything imaginable. I was not really aware of that. So I was looking through it and some are really good and some just plain foolish. But today is National Making Life Beautiful Day, so I researched it and it was originally proposed by a cosmetic company, I’m assuming to sell make – up to beautify yourself. However, it has evolved to much more. It celebrates anyone or anything that help people to enjoy life more, and I agree 100 percent with that. Our world is in such a state that the simple act of saying good morning, or a kind word or compliment actually help people have a better day. If you help a person in anyway that is becoming a rare idea. They add up and these are the things that make a better more beautiful world. Beauty comes in many forms not just physical and we need to practice them all a little more. Maybe our lives will be spent happier and not in a hostile environment. Coming from the Northeast we have that as a strike against us , everyone seems to be in a hurry and care little for others, this is sad but we can change that starting with a smile and a warm greeting or a simple Have a Nice Day. It goes a long way.

Last night I read a short clip about an overwrought mother with a crying child who entered a diner for coffee, while making it the child started to scream louder which caused her to drop the coffee and breakdown herself, a kindly gentleman walked up and said’ Please let me hold the baby for you while you make your coffee, I am a grandfather and I know what you are going through’ she agreed and the man took the baby while she cleaned her mess and got a new coffee. This seemed to calm everyone down. The man was Joe Biden and this took place back in the 80’s sometime. Now I am not trying to endorse Biden in any political way. What I am endorsing is idea of helping each other out, sometimes we all need just a little help and what he did was a beautiful gesture. We should all try some of these gestures.

So the light shines and I am going to take my leave now. But I will leave me daily message, do something for you today something that brings you some joy it’s important to feel good about yourself. Also get a jump on those weekend plans. If you have the opportunity do or say something nice to someone today and celebrate Making the World a more Beautiful Place in turn you will feel better. Good morning everyone today is Wednesday, June 9 , 2021. My daily weather reports this week have not been that good like yesterday’s thunderstorm. I think we are in for more of that today. That was some storm I hope everyone made it through it okay. Again I did all my errands while Dario napped in the back seat, I still feel it’s the best of both worlds.

Yesterday I thought of the saying ‘youth is wasted on the young’. I felt that was a true evaluation but I also thought we were all young once and we all made mistakes, how else do we learn, we learn from those mistakes and we see we don’t do it again. However, there are some among us that keep making the same mistake. As a parent we can guide and advise but ultimately a person must decide things on their own.

When I was around 15 I thought I knew everything as we all do. In school I was doing poorly in Latin, my parents were notified if I didn’t rmprove I was in danger of failing. I laughed when they told me and said they won’t fail you for Latin. They also advised me if I failed I would be going to summer school, again I thought how foolish they were to think anyone would have to go to summer school for Latin. But guess what I failed and had to go six weeks to summer school, now I had to make the two hour trip I hated all year in the heat of the summer. So I went, you were allowed to miss three days anything more and you failed and would have to repeat the whole year. Well my grandmother was visits my aunt diown the shore and I was invited but how could go go I go now I was stuck, but I was smarter than everyone else, I took the three days and the weekend and that got me 5 days down the shore, see how ingenious and smart I was. So I went to the shore and had a great time, my cousins and I walked the boardwalk for days trying to win the record ‘come on light my fire’ by Jose Feliciano finally we did. The weekend was over and I returned to summer school. Sometime in the next week I developed a raging ear infection and I was sick and wanted to stay in bed I was so dizzy and feverish. When I turned to my mother for help, her answer was sorry buddy you used your three days now get to school and figure it out. So much for compassion. So I sat in 90 degree heat sick as a dog translating Caesar’s Gallic Wars for 4 hours a day, today I still think that was my living hell. But I was smart and knew everything, and suffered for it. But I learned I never put myself in a position like that again.

The moral here is we all make mistakes especially our children and no matter how old they are, our job as a parent is to be there to help and support them. After all what else are we here for than to help our loved ones our family. Last night at dinner out of nowhere Rocco turned and said I don’t want to be home alone I want to be with my family. I guess he’s begin getting to realize he is part of family, a place of security and love with no criticism.
